    • 2 more scoreless from sixto.

on a separate note, i wouldnt mind seeing Dane Myers make the team over DLC. Myers is having a great spring.

      • Per mlbtr, here the deals the big remaining FA starters are reportedly looking for:

Clevinger - 1-year deal, not sure of value

Lorenzen - 2-year deal, has already turned down 1-year deals in the $5-7M range

Snell - 2-3-year deal w/ opt outs and AAV in $30M range

        Montgomery - 7 year deal

Not sure this is the analysis. If he is hurt it's probably because they pushed a 20 year old too hard. Still a kid even if he is a huge human being. Of course, the idea that every pitcher will blow out their arm 17-27 years of age is certainly a philosophy they can take and just never think about it. Just worry about today. It's an interesting way to do things if one just accepts they literally are all breaking down all across baseball. Hard call but I'd just defer to the medical staff.

Probably want Dane (pitcher conversion) getting everyday PA. Just needs the reps. He really only has 1200 PA as a professional. Gordon is close to triple that and DLC over 1,000 more for perspective. He's playing 3 days a week max on the club with Gordon/Jazz/Sanchez eating up all the right handers, etc. If he is anything, I don't think getting him 300 more heavy PA until the summer is a big deal. Hopefully he is a huge later bloomer for them.

Not sure how you don't sign Clevinger at this point but that was a month ago also

or maybe it's because the human body isnt meant to throw a baseball 100 mph and that injuries are inevitable with pitchers for the most part. Maybe the calculus moving forward should be aggressive while also being cautious if the pitcher shows signs of wear or fatigue. He probably got hurt because they were dumb this spring and continued to pitch him with a hurt finger and he probably compensated and ended up hurt. If Mel was telling him not to throw 2 of his pitches so that he didnt aggravate the finger injury in a spring outing, he should have never been throwing in a spring game at all until the issue was healed.

The moral of the story is pitchers get hurt, and there is no data to back up how absurdly overly cautious these teams continue to be with these young pitchers. I'm not saying throw the kid 220 innings until his arm falls off, but you can monitor the kid for injury as you go. these arbitrary innings limits are moronic.

I think the bold is a really good question as to what happened there.

Hopefully Eury is not a huge deal. Even missing April is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, sort of. He would still get enough innings. We'll see. But just to say, I think the issue with fatigue is it just happens and then you have the the injury and the problem in an instant. So you do want to avoid that completely so there is something beyond just monitoring until you see something. You can set an expectation of innings here and there to mitigate against general fatigue and still be aggressive, etc. I guess Max and Puk will be a good test cases here too coming off a big injury and a SP conversion.

                  • Has anyone seen anything on Eury?

Also WC hopes really taking a hit with presumably three NL West teams going to make the playoffs with the recent moves

                      • jazz and arraez are on fire all of a sudden after super slow starts. Jazz has 2 homers today and i think he had his other homer of the spring either yesterday or the day before as well. Jazz also took a shot at miguel rojas without naming him by name in an interview with Channing Crowder. He was saying something about how close this team is compared to years prior.

I just watched that clip. I love Jazz, but man he comes off as a moron sometimes. How 'bout not nap an hour before the game when there's a team meeting? I didn't know a Team Captain's responsibilities were to wake folks up from naps.

i agree there, but i also saw another clip where he said he gave sanchez shit when he first came up about his little soto shuffle thing and said cut that shit out youre not juan soto. I can see Rojas thinking he's being a leader but also, being a dickhead and taking the game too seriously doesnt make you a good leader. especially when you suck. it's a game, you can both take it seriously and have fun.

Yeah i agree with the Sanchez thing, but still a lot of what I've seen so far that interview, Jazz does not come off well.

                                Sanchez life
