  • The thing that makes this trade almost impossible to veto is except for Reyes,we got pretty good baseball value. If u would take Reyes/Marisnick out and this was Atlanta and Kansas City trading people would not mention money at all.

While Buerhle has a big contract, they told every team as long as they got a ML Ready arm in return he is on the block. They got Henderson Alvarez, who by all reports was a very nice return for him. Reyes was the only real "salary dump" and we still got there #2 in return

The problem with this is, even if that intention were true, they will not convince four major free agents to sign here to get to that level. Let alone the issues of commissioner basically dictating payroll. What would they do, give Stanton a 7/$80 contract with $60 million up front in 2013? (Actually I love that idea lol).

This is a disaster veto or no veto, but I'd like to see it veto'd just to undermine Loria and hear what Samson has to say on the radio when confronted with, this was the most egregious action in baseball the last 40 years requiring commissioner involvement. Do you think you made a mistake now and understand the baseball market?

        Clowns. Sell the fucking team.

        • the "except Reyes" part is kind of a big deal, no?

          • Reyes being involved was what I personally, and most likely many others, felt made this deal ridiculous.

Ya but that is what I am saying, only Reyes can be mentioned as a salary dump and Loria can say"Well we got the 2nd best prospect from them and he doesn't fit into our long term plans" Everyone knows it's BS and the reason he was dealt was because of 96 million dollars

O me too and everyone knows the 96 million reasons why he was dealt but when u get a Top Prospect in return and the rest of the team is 23,u can make excuses on why u traded him

In a second, like I said yesterday Reyes was the last part of the trade. We had the deal set and the Blue Jays GM mentioned is he available? The deal started as JJ,Buehrle,Buck/then Escobar for Boner(Almost same player just Escobar can play 3B and more pop)/then the Reyes part

Selig said to be "not happy" w/ #marlins trade, but so far doesn't see basis to disallow. Selig's quote: "under review"
Don't know if the bolded is something Selig admitted/hinted at or just Heyman speculating.

                    • Except their excuse for making the deal was saying it's to get better for next year when it's clearly not. There really isn't any valid reason for them to move Reyes unless they flat out want to just say they are rebuilding everything which Samson did really hard not to say last night about the deal.

                        • @EricFisherSBJ: Selig, like others in last 48 hrs, opined that on just pure baseball terms, the Tor-Mia megatrade is actually defensible.

It doesn't seem like a bad love except for the fact that we are getting rid of every player that is making money and we are the Marlins, who are historically known for this.
