Smeltzer has a very Bleier type statcast. Seems like a guy they might be able to pitch mix a bit. This one is interesting.

The Jumbo Shrimp are going to be great.

    • Sherman immediately put out a statement threatening marlins fans saying he will not sell the team in his lifetime. If he sold right now he might be the first owner in one of the 4 major sports in decades to sell a team for less than he bought it for.

I can never remember who is AAA now, i think its Jax- if so, i have them with Mcintosh, Jerar, Edwards, Amaya, OF of Miler Bleday and Burdick, Johnston, Leblanc, Eury, Eder, McCambley, and then a host of RP options depending on who makes the opening day bullpen.

I mean, what do we expect him to say?

The lifetime part was excessive, though lol.

My philosophy is you should sign multiple guys like this every season. The position is so volatile, it's silly to spend big there. Sign some guys who could be solid, but are nothing special, and if you're in it, they might help you out. If you're out of it at the trade deadline, you can usually pick up a little bit of value for them if they are even decent.

That's about right. Groshans is missing there. Garret Hampson is also there, as well as Mangum. Allen is an interesting bash first catcher too.

              Jumbo Shrimp are legit loaded.

I agree the bullpen strategy should be:

1 - Pay for super elite only, if ever
2 - Club controlled guys you develop/trade for
3 - The MILB flyers and mind middle guys

These $7-11m non-stud relievers is mind blowing to me. Cueto is making that. They are making more than Sandy.

The threatening part was a joke. He put out a statement refuting the report by saying he wouldn’t sell in his lifetime. I was joking that marlins fans should take that as a threat

                      • The current uniforms are bland and generic. And pretty ugly. Not as horrid as the vomit that they unveiled in 2012 but still pretty bad.

                            MLBTR has a summation:

The Miami Marlins are not for sale, have not been for sale under my ownership, and will not be for sale in my lifetime. It is irresponsible to report otherwise,” Sherman said (via Jordan McPherson and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald). “It is and will continue to be a privilege to own this great organization. I look forward to seeing our loyal fans at Opening Day on March 30.

The announcement comes in response to a column from the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday morning. That report cited MLB sources suggesting the Miami organization could hit the market at some point soon. There’d been no previous indication of the Marlins potentially changing hands, and Sherman’s forceful pushback represents a firm declaration that won’t happen.

"Kick ass" is strong. But they're not terrible.

I still hate that we relegate the most unique color to a tiny accent/spring training and don't use it as an in-game top.
