    Joel Sherman

    @Joelsherman1
    Heard Jeter believed going into the lockout that there would be another $10M-$15M that the Marlins would spend on the 2022 roster, and that strategy evaporated during the lockout. It was central to Jeter’s decsion to leave as CEO.

Now, we're left with the lesser ownership group without Jeter. Manfred is such a buffoon.
      Agreed on all counts.

          if the team isnt planning on spending anymore (likely meaning they will make a deal for a big prospect), then the garcia deal is even more dumb. just a terrible deal. who knows what to believe at this point though

          @CraigMish
          It is my understanding the Marlins Ownership group remains fully committed to winning in 2022. That includes spending after the lockout is over. I’m not sure where the idea has come that they’re done because that is certainly not the case from my understanding.

            I really hope that Mish is right here (obviously). But these guys are going to have to prove it. They do not deserve the benefit of the doubt, and for whatever reason, if they don't spend more money going into next season they should absolutely be vilified, and torn apart by the local and national media. And there should be no excuses about "almost getting deals done" or the lockout, or the pandemic. None of that holds any water with the new revenue they're bringing in. It's put up or shut up time.
