  • Fluff Piece: City Connect Unis > Jeter Unis

This may be an unpopular opinion but the City Connect jerseys have everything the Jeter rebrand is lacking. The City Connect has a nod to the past but the styling looks forward. The "MIAMI" script is organic and evokes the classic hand-drawn scripts from the period. The Jeter script looks like it was done on Publisher with stock typeface in about 10 minutes.

The colors are more vibrant. The worst part of the Jeter rebrand is how much black is used instead of leaning on the unique hues of blue and red. (Why don't we have a blue alternate yet?) The black alternate being Exhibit A. (Why hasn't this been fixed yet?) The MIAMI script in the City Connect jersey pops because the red, blue, and white have a high contrast. The blue drop shadow is thick enough to be visible at a distance. The Jeter set looks drab and muddled with the red and blue accents which are barely visible. It all blends together.

Public service announcement: This is not in any way an endorsement of the other City Connect uniforms around the league. Aside from maybe the White Sox every other set has been terrible and I am not looking forward to what our Nike overlords have instore.

I don't 100% love the city connect ones (the hat in particular I didn't like the logo on), and I don't like red being the primary color (I'd rather have the blue be the primary), but I agree that they're better than the regular set in that they actually take advantage of some bright and unique colors rather than "nightlife black."

I'd rather have it reversed - make the regular ones bright/colorful, and have the city connect be the "nightlife" ones.

As pointed out, a blue alternate should've been added yesterday.
