  • Anibal Sanchez to Start Friday

No official link yet, but an insider on another message board says the reason he was pulled from his rehab start after 45 pitches was so he could be ready for his start on Friday against Atlanta.

Makes sense for his short start. Volstad could have made that start on regular rest but I guess they wanted him to get the extra day. I guess it now depends on how West pitches tomorrow to determine whether him or VandenHurk gets yanked from the rotation.

As long as he doesn't suck.

From the looks of his minor league starts, he should really be an asset. I still think he should takes West's spot and let him get in some more minor league games. RVH really hasn't been bad except for the absurd amount of homers he's allowed. As it stands now, he could probably pass Volstad in that in a couple weeks.

My guess would be RVH. I think he and West are really on the same level right now, but West is a lefty. If we send West down in favor of Hurk, our rotation would be entirely right-handed.

And if West gets shelled tomorrow? I know he's a lefty but we did run out a 4 man rotation of all righties, don't see what would be different about 5. It should be the best 5 pitchers period. Not zomg, this guy is a lefty; we need to keep him even if the other guy is pitching better.

Are there any reports on his velocity, his movement, and his control?
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

There was a report from one of his rehab starts (don't remember which one) that sayd he was around 90-94 MPH on his fastball.

Got the answer. VandenHurk was just optioned to make room for Gaby.

I agree that it should have been West. I still don't think he's ready to be pitching up here right now.

I believe that will be West unless he gets shelled tomorrow or they decide to skip him to get to JJ.
