  • Brian Flynn, LHP

Former Owasso lefty Brian Flynn's stay with Double-A Erie lasted only one game as the Detroit Tigers traded him on Monday to the Miami Marlins in a deal that included five players and a draft pick.

Flynn will remain in Double-A as the Marlins have assigned him to the Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League.

Flynn was 8-4 with a 3.71 ERA at high Single-A Lakeland before he moved up to Erie last weekend. He lost his only start for Erie in the Eastern League on Saturday.

What's the scouting report on this dude? Anything of note or just minor league filler/potential mop-up guy?

Based on his minor league #'s, it seems like he'll probably be more effective out of the bullpen.

His #'s look much better against left-handed hitters.

Better. But, I'm not sure it screams "LOOGY" quite yet, given that he's supposed to be pretty projectable as far as stuff goes.

Needs to work on his secondary stuff. From what I've read, he has above average velocity (93-95) and at times an above average to plus slider. Command is shaky. Consistency is shaky. Still pretty raw for a college arm.

He could surprise. More likely he flames out though.

Well he is 6'8 240 and was born in 1990.

In other words he is still somewhat young and is massive. Overall not a bad replacement for Rob Rasmussen who we just dealt

Struck out 8 more in 5 innings tonight.

He's never had very good K rates, will be interesting to see if this continues.

Looking sexy. Maybe he turna out to be what Sean West was meant to be.

Flying out tomorrow to join the Zephyrs. Couldn't ask for more than to start back home at OKC on Saturday. Can't wait to see the family.
