assuming the same batters, the shortstop is worth 4.5 more runs on average than the second baseman...roughly half a win

Wish JJ got to keep going. Filthy tonight.

We've opened up a spot for Ruggiano in 2013, we spend some money on a middle of the order-type bat, and I'm really in on this team. That infield, JJ-Buehrle and Stanton is a nice core (an expensive core, but a nice core). If Turner finds his velocity again, I really like what we've got.
          Current 2013

          C John Buck $6,500,000
          1B Logan Morrison $515,000
2B Emilio Bonifacio $2,750,000 arb projection
          3B Hanley Ramirez $15,500,000
          SS Jose Reyes $10,000,000
          LF
          CF
          RF Mike Stanton $550,000
          B Gaby Sanchez $550,000 won't be super2 in NOLA
          B Greg Dobbs $1,600,000
B Brett Hayes $750,000 arb projection
          B Justin Ruggiano $550,000
          B Solano/25th Man $515,000

          SP Josh Johnson $13,750,000
          SP Mark Buerhle $12,000,000
          SP Ricky Nolasco $11,500,000
          SP Jacob Turner $1,175,000
          SP Leblanc/Hand $515,000
          RP Heath Bell $10,000,000
          RP Steve Cishek $515,000
RP Edward Mujica $2,000,000 arb projection
RP Ryan Webb $650,000 arb projection
          RP Mike Dunn $515,000
          RP Dan Jennings $515,000
          RP Sanabia/Hatcher $515,000

          $93,430,000

There is money for Bourn/BJ/Melky (could backload a little) and for a veteran platoon OF to split with Ruggiano/Gaby (lomo could play some LF still with Gaby at 1B).

I literally do not see how anything has changed except Marlins save $4 million in 2012, roughly $3 million in 2013 (Turner does make a million), have an excellent young controlled pitcher for 6 years, and two alright catching prospects.
