I've been looking at Detroit's prospects for a Infante deal and I don't like any of them (that is plausible.) All of their prospects that we would be interested in are having down years. The only guy that isn't is righty Bruce Rondon.

He has a combined 1.23 ERA between High and Double-A in 35 games (36.1 IP) and a 47/16 K/BB ratio. He is holding opposing batters to a .148 average and has only surrendered one homerun. All the scouting reports label him as wild, I don't know if he's fixed that yet. He may just be a Venezuelan version of Jose Ceda.

Bored out of my mind so I was thinking what about Anibal to St. Louis? They have a few pitching prospects that intrigue me (Carlos Martinez, Tyrell Jenkins John Gast.) I don't know if we could get Martinez as he is their top prospect next to Shelby Miller. Thoughts?

#Tigers and #RedSox have interest in Anibal Sanchez and are scouting him in Pittsburgh today. He is pitching well, too.

No chance Pittsburgh would want to do Marte for Anibal and Gaby, right?

Oakland may be buyers guys. They are in a three-way tie for the two Wild Card Spots. I bet they can't afford to get Greinke or Hamels, but they could afford a lesser Anibal to upgrade their rotation. None of their prospects are performing though so I don't know what we'd want. Probably catchers Max Sassi or Derek Norris and one or two of their pitching prospects would be my guess.

Derek Norris for Anibal would be hugh.
                        --------------------
His career is going to be funny, because he'll probably be good while being hated by whatever fan base he plays for.

I don't see how Oakland makes any sense. Why would they want Anibal Sanchez?

To improve a pitching staff that is already decent.

Oakland spent an entire offseason acquiring assets to potentially have a very good team by the time they move into their new stadium (or, rather, potential new stadium).

Just because they're competing now doesn't change their financial situation.

They're not trading a bunch of assets now for a rental.

From the perspective of just this year, it's not even a necessity for them.
They have the best team ERA in the American League. If there's one team that does not need pitching, it's them. On top of their current staff, they have prospects in the minors who could likely fill in and do well. They also have Brandon McCarthy, Dallas Braden, and Brett Anderson returning from the DL at some point in the next couple of months.

No way they give up a Derek Norris for a rental. The rumor is they've actually been trying to trade Kurt Suzuki to enable Norris to play more.

Seems like they have a long-term plan in place and they're just looking for bats (SS/3B), which is what they actually need right now.

A playoff run could generate momentum that excites a fan base and pushes the ball forward on improving their financial situation, though, don't you think?
