    • Being better than league average while being 3 years younger than the average player is mediocre, Mainge. Duh.

      • He was average across the board. Pretty much the definition of mediocre.

        • me·di·o·cre (m d - k r). adj. Moderate to inferior in quality; ordinary. See Synonyms at average.
You are totally ignoring age, which is fun.

The average ages of all teams was in the 22 range. So yes older, but not like the league was full of 25 to 27 year olds. Many guys that had been pros the same length.

              • I like the move. It improves the team immediately. Didn't give up anything. And I like that they pulled the trigger early. Give the team a month to right the ship. If it doesn't happen you can sell at the deadline. And still say 'we tried'.

                • When you can pick up a player, for free, who upgrades your team and give up basically nothing in return, ya gotta do it.

                  • Doming was hitting under .650 in his second year in AAA. Rasmussen type's are dime a dozen. I mean Carlos Lee is past his prime but if he can hit away from Houston at all it's an automatic upgrade.

                      • This move is fairly "whatevs". Dominguez never really did develop which is sad.

                        • If Lee was 31 and wasn't already old as hell this would been a steal for us. But still not a bad move at all

Would have thought Dominguez would have brought a better player back in return but it's not like he was gonna be playing in Miami anytime soon. As for Rasmussen,he thinks he is a starter and we saw him more as a LOOGY. Plus he has already been passed over in the system by Conley and Heaney(even tho unsigned)

The Cubs are looking to deal LaHair and if they do,watch for us to trade Gaby Sanchez up there for a low level prospect or 2.

                          • Why in the hell would they want Gaby when they already have Rizzo? I thought The Gaby to Chicago thing was pre-Rizzo. Once they got him, they didn't have a need for him. Looking back getting Andrew Cashner for him would have been real nice.

He is still a cheap bat,I am not saying he will be starting/playing alot or that we will be getting good prospects back. They liked him then and hearing they still do. It's like the Ruggiano to us deal, just a minor move AND prolly only happens IF they trade LaHair

                              • He will be arb eligible next year and while Chicago certainly has money, I can't see them paying him $2 mil to sit behind Rizzo when Gaby has no huge upside. Especially for a NL team that couldn't use him against lefties as a DH. Ruggiano has years of cheapness in front of him, bit different then Gaby. I could see some contending team going for Gaby on their bench and hoping he heats up to give some professional at bats.

However, if this is "why the fuck not land" I guess the Cubs could put him at 3B for August and September and hope for the proverbial hail mary that the Marlins were dead wrong about his position. Yes, I know. But that makes more sense then getting him to sit behind Rizzo.

Regardless, I am thrilled if they get a moderate AA relief prospect for Gaby or Coghlan. They will be DFA'd if not, so why not get a warm body and a popcorn. Maybe just the popcorn.
