Marlins Lose to Sawks 7-5, Show No Signs of Ever Winning Again
You know I was thinking before (I know, scary stuff) and I realized something. I loved rooting for the Marlins in 1998-1999 etc when we were terrible and I loved 2003 but personally I really hate us right now because we have a decent payroll and we are so gross right now.

I'm absolutely sick of this team putting up duds in June. They come out swinging early in the season, and then they just get complacent. The hitting sucks, the pitching is falling off the rocks, and the bottom of the lineup is the biggest piece of trash I've seen from any Marlins team since Reggie Abercrombie was starting.
Go get Carlos Lee. His D sucks, but hopefully he can help spark the offense. Only problem is I think it'll take at least one of Jose Fernandez/Christian Yelich to get him, and I don't think he's worth that.
Problem with looking in the trade market is that our system is so baron, it's hard to put together trade pieces to entice any team's selling at the Deadline.
Complacency, injuries, certain players who were previously playing over their heads coming back to earth, and just awful, awful, awful hitting by just about everybody, it's a combination of a lot of things. I do think the hitters at least took for granted how good of pitching the Marlins starting staff was giving us early in the season. They weren't hitting early in the season, but the amazing pitching made up for it quite a bit. Now that the pitching is falling off a bit, the team's overall inability to hit is starting to shine brighter than before.

GROSS I tell ya!!!!
I'm noticing that the older I get, the more I just say fuck it when the team is bad and stop paying attention as much. Mostly meaning I still follow statistically and results wise, but I don't bother watching.
And then the season ends and I talk myself back into them by the following spring.
This is true of all my teams, not just the Marlins.
