With Gaby Sanchez in the minors and Logan Morrison taking over at first base, the Marlins’ outfield looks vastly different now than it did only a week ago. The Marlins had already called up Bryan Petersen and Chris Coghlan. On Thursday, they recalled outfielder Kevin Mattison from Triple A New Orleans to fill Kearns’ spot. The Marlins were even working infielder Donovan Solano in left field before batting practice.

It was only two weeks ago that Petersen, Coghlan and Mattison comprised the starting outfield for Triple A New Orleans. Coghlan was the starter in center on Thursday as the Marlins opened a four-game series against the Giants. Greg Dobbs was in left.

I know Gaby was awful in the majors, but I think calling him up, putting him back at 1st base, with Morrison in LF and Coghlan in CF is a better temporary solution than guys like Mattison/Peterson/Solano starting everyday in LF.

Petey should be starting in center right now.. He is the best OF defender we have. Gaby won't help us anyways. Platoon Mattison & Cogs in left.
