  • I remember Tommy Hutton talking about Dobbs saying when he swings at a first pitch it's because that's what he was looking for.

    • I was gon say maybe Hanley and Reyes took an educated guess about what they will see based on what they've seen in previous at-bats and previous games and want to take advantage of jumping on a first pitch.

      • That's also a possibility. But if they are knowledged as such they should not be popping out to 2nd or grounding out to SS.

An out is never more valuable than a single. Never.
What about 3rd and 2nd, 1 out, bottom of the 9th, tie game?

Give me the game-winning sac fly over a bunt single that doesnt score the runner.

          /BUSTING CHOPS.

I was bad at baseball though, so Im probably wrong...

          • THIS IS WHY BASEBALL IS THE BEST SPORT...unlimited possibilities, and the perfect infusion of probability, skill, and mental chess matches.

Enjoy the game tonight guys, hopefully as much as I enjoyed this exchange.

EDIT: On this note, I am convinced baseball was created by a higher power. 90 feet between bases is the most perfect measurement in all of sports.

Hitting a baseball is difficult. Can't it be acceptable to know they just missed it?

If it was easy to square up a baseball, everyone would hit a lot higher than .500.

                • “Very mature,” Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said sarcastically when asked about the incident after Wednesday's game. “He's lucky I wasn't Hanley. I would have chased his ass all the way to Puerto Rico.”

Lopez is actually from Nicaragua ehe.

                  • And if the roles were reversed, Ozzie would have probably loved it from his pitcher.

You should just say your thing instead of doing this.
