If everybody in the bullpen is doing his job, I agree. Right now, can't count on everyone and who knows who needs a day. I'd rather Choate out there against a righty than some of the other options, like Bell or Hatcher.

I'd rather just start the inning with Ryan Webb, honestly.

Even if Kotsay was leading that inning off and he is left-handed, I think it's still pointless to use Choate there.

Choate is a guy who should be used in key situations against the opponents best left-handed hitters.

I think Ozzie is using him poorly.

In a lot of games, Choate is being left in to face righties and, at times, he's being brought in for mediocre left-handed hitters who you know are candidates to get pinch-hit for.

With a 6-2 lead and nobody on base, I think it's rather pointless to use your dominant lefty specialist at that point.

It hasn't totally backfired yet, but at some point, it probably will.

Even if you're okay with Choate being brought in to face the first batter, he has no business still being in there after Denorfia singles. Jesus Guzman was on-deck and he's a good hitter against lefties. That's such a bad matchup that you'd probably have better odds of getting Guzman out with one of the recent callups, honestly.

It all worked out dandy because Ryan Webb ended up getting all the lefties, but it was a silly jam that probably doesn't happen if the bullpen is managed properly (or, at least, better).

If you're bringing in Choate, I think it should be to face a guy like Yonder Alonso in the situation Ryan Webb K'd him in yesterday.

I don't understand the hate for the recent call ups. Yes they've combined for 15 innings in the majors before but they have been pitching well and haven't been walking guys. That can't be said about some of the other relievers. Give them a couple shots before you give up on them.

Choate never looks Ozzie in the eye when he gets taken out of the game
