Chris Volstad is 0-5 with 6.92 ERA after loss today for #Cubs. Carlos Zambrano (1-2) takes a 1.98 ERA into his #Marlins start Sunday
Here's to hoping he continues his success tomorrow.

aeheahhaeh Volstad was going to the 6th and had given up 1 run when I left today. Oh man. That's the best.

        I want Z back.
The inning of doom will have to wait.
        here comes the inning...
        Potential inning of doom alert.
who didn't know this was coming, eventually.
        Nice meatball, volstad.
        Here's comes the I.O.D.
        Hahahahahaha. [expletive] you, volstad.
yeah, i'm pretty much done apologizing for volstad. gtfo
He really is worthless. Dfa him, please.
Leave him in for the rest of the game, save the bullpen, and then dfa his ass immediately after the game. I'd rather Coleman start than this pudd.
The Zambrano trade is looking worse after every Volstad outing.
Regardless of any of the pitching stats people want to use, Chris Volstad is simply a losing pitcher.
Apparently I missed the Chris Volstad blowup inning?

I don't like Festa telling me what we won't do.

How many Alzheimers patients does it take to screw in an aquarium backstop?

                        Spoiler:
To get to the other side.

Cubs’ patience starting to run thin with Volstad

Chris Volstad dropped his glove onto his head for a moment, and it must have felt like everything was caving in again.

Fireworks were going off at Miller Park on Saturday afternoon, and the 42,339 fans in here were getting loud. Edwin Maysonet was a 30-year-old utility guy who had one home run on his major-league resume until that moment.

Maysonet had just crushed a sinker, which Volstad graded out as “not a terrible pitch,” just one that didn’t move in far enough. It smashed off the ledge above the T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant in left field for a grand slam.

That snapshot in the sixth inning told you pretty much everything you needed to know. The Milwaukee Brewers (15-18) were rolling toward an 8-2 victory, while the Cubs had a big question mark at the back end of their rotation.

The Cubs are 0-7 when Volstad pitches, and 13-13 when he doesn’t. That’s obviously an oversimplification, but Volstad now has a 6.92 ERA and hasn’t notched a win since July 10 last summer, when he was with the Florida Marlins.

Will the Cubs look to make a change in that spot?

“Yeah, you’re going to consider it,” manager Dale Sveum said afterward. “There’s options and there’s things you can try – other people you can try. When that time comes, we don’t know, but obviously we’re all frustrated with the starts (and) the five shutout innings and then one big inning.

“We’re all frustrated with that and we’re trying to get a grip on it. But (it’s seven) starts in (and) we can't.”

I bet this was his last start.

Seems like yesterday we were all REALLY horny for him (as a prospect obviously).

He (and his results) were never likeable but I don't wish bad things on him.

Hopefully he has invested his money well cause it seems he will have an abbreviated career.
