If anyone is curious, the bust is by sculptor Robert Berks, who apparently sought to make every one of his subjects appear afflicted with leprosy

    JFK
    Einstein
    Lincoln
    MLK
    LBJ and Lady Bird
    Reagan
And yes, even Mister Rogers (Fred Rogers)

That would be awful if Carl had been killed in a fire

It's like that dead cook in the Poseidon Adventure who had his face burned off.

"If you retire a #, it means no one will ever wear it again;that's the honor a team commits to. What if future Bulls owner un-retired No. 23? -- Buster_ESPN (@Buster_ESPN)"
Can we give this clown the award for the stupidest thing ever said? I can't believe a professional columnist would say something like this.

I always liked Buster, but this is just ridiculous.

Different ownership though. Wasn't Loria that retired it. And Barger will be getting a plaque somewhere in the ballpark. Hopefully one that explains his significance, because you know 95% of the people in the stands had no idea why the #5 was retired at Dolphin Stadium.

I understand the different ownership thing and that Loria and his front office didn't make that promise, but his point stands. The organization retired the number which has a certain meaning in sports and this is something I've never really seen.

Numbers are unretired all the time, the problem here is that did the Marlins reach out to the Barger family and if so, we're they simply ignored?

Obviously, one of the two parties here is lying.

Yeah, when I say something I've never really seen, I am referring to un-retiring a number with the parties most concerned with that retired number not playing a significant role in allowing its use.
