He's never been a strikeout pitcher but yikes, 4.48 K rate last year

My memory was a lot rosier than reality

He's never really outperformed his mid-4 FIP
    --------------------
Yuck, he would be as bad as Volsad, possibly even worse

1.4 WAR replacing a .1 WAR would be an improvement.

No. I would be happy with that. Maybe I should have put an exclamtion point at the end of the sentence instead of a period...

I think it was the sarcastic sentence before that one.

An exclamation mark would have made the last sentence seem extra sarcastic

You are the worst kind of person.

EDIT: Still looks like a sarcastic statement to me.

I'm looking at Fangraphs where he was actually a 2.6

I'm confused at how a guy that went 6-16 with a 4.81 ERA is a 2.6 win player

I guess he doesn't walk guys

I was using baseballreference but still 2.6 is better than 1.3

Looking at their stats side by side, they're actually very similar pitchers

Basically the same career K/9 and HR/9, very similar FIP and ERA numbers, Chris with a slightly higher BB rate

I can see them having roughly the same success and costing about the same, with Francis' ability to limit BBs providing more upside

Difference is Coors, though he still gave up career HR #'s in pitchers park this year. But that's the difference for WAR, park factors

Cardinal's are looking to move Lohse and maybe Westbrook:

I just changed my mind on this and think Volstad has more upside

As indicated by his 3.64 xFIP in 2011, if he can get his fucking HR/FB down, he'd actually be at least a league average starter. I'm thinking the new park may help that naturally as well.

I can't believe I find myself saying Volstad and upside in the same post
