I think turning a guy who was going to get DFA'd and overall has injury problems where you can't really rely on him into a club controlled lefty is a pretty solid low end move. I like Bake and hope he can resurrect his career. LeBlanc has definitely had options used 08, 09, and 11. I'm not sure about 2010. I would assume out of options which is why the Padres are trading him.

He does a pretty good job against right handers, lefties nail him which is interesting. I suspect he will fight to be the long man/6th SP.

This makes me think Badenhop is not going to be tendered arbitration and cut as well.

I don't mind LeBlanc as a 5th starter if we're not able to get Gio.

JJ, Buerhle, Nolasco, Sanchez, Leblanc is cool with me.

That along with Reyes is ok, and some other pieces is fine.

I heard he's still got options.

Looking at numbers...LeBlanc isn't even better than Volstad.

You're correct. He has one option left.

                        Good luck to him.
                        I did the same thing!

gotta love Bake but its business.

Not sure about this but based on the number of starts I would guess Leblanc is still club controlled. This combined with an option and the fact he is a lefty makes him a much better option then volstad. I think this move just pushed volstad off the team whether he is traded or nontendered. it saves money and could end up just being additional depth which volstad would not be kept for.

pretty much solidifies a volstad trade or dfa, a rotation with both volstad and leblanc in it might as well not even show up for the year
