      Apparently.

Sandro maybe you need to read better because I already did introduce myself in that thread. I checked page 3.

LOL. Sorry there was a big celebration thread over soxtalk. Seems that Oz single handily turned Dunn into the worst player in mlb history, made Rios fall off defensively, and a host of other sins. His act ran its course. His kid was just an ass the past couple years, baiting players, talking about locker room stuff in public. Ozzie was all pouty his kid wasn't drafted by the Sox. Hell no one else did. He was dealt a bad hand this season with Dunn and Rios falling off so sharply, but if you're playing poker you have to discard those and pick up a couple new ones. Not only did Oz keep playing Dunn, he kept playing him in critical spots. It was obvious he was trying to show up the GM or get himself released to rejoin y'alls team.

I think this will be one move that helps both teams. Were those guys tossed in to save face, or are they worth something?

Ozzie Martinez is a slick fielder but the bat is lacking. Marinez throws hard and will probably be a decent bridge guy but right now he's got mega control issues.

As a team with obviously no chance with a fair amount of time to play in the season, shouldn't you continue to play Dunn and hope he gets it together, seeing as how you have three more high priced years coming from him?

The complaints were from the weeks and months before the season was a disaster. Oz basically said he had to play the expensive guy that our GM, Kenny Williams signed. Williams kept saying Oz should play the guys that give the team the best chance to win. The final straw was a couple weeks ago, with the team "only" three or four back from Detroit, in a game against Detroit, Oz has Dunn pinch hit in the 9th. Of course Dunn struck out. The Sox lost the game, and the season was over. Most fans and writers believe it became a battle for the owner's affection between Williams and Oz.

Things that Sox fans disliked about Ozzie, even when the team was winning.
He manages from his gut and ignores the stats.
He forms a loyalty to some players and keeps playing them when there are better options, or so fans believe.
His in game handling of pitchers borders on bizare, but that also ties in to gut versus stats.
He'll insult about every social, religious, ethnic, and political group.
His kid is a spoiled, obnoxious, ass. That's not an issue except the kid will tweet about stuff that happens behind the scenes and in the locker room.

I believe you will be getting a new Oz. He's feeling the love. I believe he will do a great job for you. He's bringing Joey Cora, a solid bench coach. Our hitting coach, Walker, announced he's leaving. He's someone that most fans believe should have been fired five years ago. But, sometimes fans do not really know what's going on.

Not all of this is just my opinion, I tried to summarize the posters at soxtalk.com We have a few thousand, with a few hundred who post regularly. There are only a couple willing to say they wish Ozzie has stayed.

Well at this point in the season, Sox fans are reasonably happy with the change in managers and the spirit our team has displayed. I noticed in a thread or two on your front page that y'all seem to still be happy with Oz, so everyone is happy, except a rather large segment of your non baseball fan population. (Or so we hear in Chicago).

He is always entertaining. Not many managers would advocate seven beers and a sleeping pill after a 15-5 loss. It grew old after five or six seasons.

BTW great avatar. He's my all time fav Sox player. I always hoped he'd bump up just enough for serious HoF consideration, but just hasn't quite got there. I had hoped he'd have a chance to pitch in St. Louis at some point. Maybe he will.

Now that the season is effectively over, I was thinking of you guys. I am shocked that y'all didn't do better. I was really expecting Ozzie to rebound and be the toast of the town.

So how much was Oz and how much was players not playing? Does Dunn = Bell?

                        A couple random thoughts . . .

I think the Sox success was based on something you all said earlier, if Dunn and Rios play the team is solid, and they did. I wish we still had Buerhle.

Yeah, Ozzie was a bright spot on the Franchise at least
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

That's what we'd say. He was a reason for watching. I think I mentioned earlier, I loved him as a player and enjoyed a few seasons with him at the helm. Better results next year.
