  • Postgame: Marlins Go 1-9 on Latest Homestand After Losing to Giants 5-2

Too bad we can't burn down SLS when the season is over.

Only 15 more games at that dump.

Volstad did well if you take away the 3 HR's.

They all deserve ice cream today.

Belt's first HR was a bomb.

On the plus side, Volstad only allowed 3 flyballs...

It's a good thing that one in the first inning went foul.

Seriously, 9 groundball outs, 3 FBs, 3 HRs.

It's like no GB to FB ratio is high enough to make him safe...

While he didn't throw a shutout, even you guys have to admit this was a step in the right direction. 9/0 GO/AO ratio, 7/2 K/BB ratio and he really wasn't falling behind many hitters. He also didn't let them string a bunch of hits together.

He was facing arguably one of the worst offenses in the majors. Giving up 3 HRs shows the same issues still exist with him.

He was also facing the worst lineup in the National League.

Still doesn't change him not falling behind many hitters, inducing 9 groundball outs and only walking one guy unintentionally. He also struck out their best hitter (Sandoval) twice which is hard to do. I'm not saying he was perfect. Just better than his last few starts.

                        4 ER in 6 IP. 3 HRs.

Yeah, he did some good stuff, but it's not really any different than what he was doing before he got sent down. He'd improved his GB rate and K and BB numbers, but was still giving up too many hard hit balls. That's what happened today.

I don't see it as a good sign that he wasn't falling behind hitters.

It's not as if that's his problem.

His problem is that he's been extremely hittable and that was the case again today against the worst lineup in the National League.

And even though it was only one unintentional walk, that one unintentional walk was the worst, to be fair. He walked Ryan Vogelsong.

Lucky it wasn't 5 ER, considering that Petersen saved a run with his throw.

I would argue that Baghdad Bob had a stronger sense of reality.
