If the Marlins are out of the race (which we are), I don't get the move at all. Go get a young player somewhere. Try some things out. Amezaga does nothing besides amuse 8 fans on this board.
Try telling Jack we're out of the race.

Go get a young player somewhere is a lot easier said than done, especially at this point in the season.

And while Cameron is a better player, my point is that the Marlins already showed that they don't really care for the whole "try something with a young player because we're out of the race" thing. They could've done that with Petersen, but don't seem to care to try such a thing. Not even tonight (Wise is getting the start, for some reason).

And while we're not making the playoffs, I get the sense that the front office is basically thinking: "we still believe in this team; even if we're going nowhere, let's still try and win as many games as we can." Hence the reason why they did nothing to subtract from the team at the deadline and continue to make these slight improvement/whatever type signings.

Jack doesn't believe we are in the race, but he is still trying to win as many games as possible.

I mean, if we want someone with a .600 OPS, why not go with Ozzy Martinez? If he' hurt, that's fine but he's got upside atleast.

On another note, holy fuck our AAA hitters are the worst (name wise).

I think the front office just never got an offer they liked for Nunez.

As for young players, I'd rather signs a 24-25 year old out of Indy ball to see if you got something. Amezaga sucks, has no upside and has way too many "a's" in his name.

One thing I've noticed is how much older the team has gotten since Jack came back (and I'm not referring to Jack himself). Since Jack got here, we acquired 33 year old Dewayne Wise (actually, I guess that's reacquired), 38 year old Mike Cameron and brought back 33 year old Amezaga. We aren't playing any of the young guys. Petersen is back to riding the bench and Ozzie remains in AAA. That's not the usual move for a team out of the race. Usually, you play your young guys and see what they can give you. Not the old guys that aren't going to be here next year.

You think they're going to play? Just because they're here doesn't mean we'll play them. Petersen is already here and he's only been a late inning substitute/injury replacement since Cameron got here.

"It's a dream come true again, because I never thought I was going to come back here, but you cannot control the moves. This move, I really liked it," Amezaga said. "This team is the one that gave me the most of my time in the big leagues. They found that I was super utility, and I owe this team a lot. I can give my life for this team."

Jack doesn't like playing many young players. example: Hammer.

It's hilarious to me that people still think the managers on this team have input on personnel
