AMEZAGA!!!! (The Official Welcome Back Amezaga Bandwagon)
I like the acquisition. With Infante out, Bonifacio will likely be playing second base when Hanley gets back. That leaves us with Amezaga who can go back to his super utility role he had when he was here before.
Plus, he's hilarious. I love seeing what he's up to in the dugout.
As a baseball player, he kind of does suck. It's weird that they went out of their way to get a guy who sucks, but if we're gonna play someone who sucks (and if the alternative is Joe Thurston, let's face it, we are) why not get a guy people like?
No argument here. Still think it's a stupid move (to play someone that sucks.... I would rather Amezaga than Thurston though, sure)
Infante is on the 15-day DL.
Hanley and Mike Cameron are kinda banged up, at the moment.
Coghlan gets a new injury everyday.
Amezaga sucks but he provides versatility. I'd say he sucks less than Thurston (and Wes Helms who's still on the roster, for that matter).
Clearly, the front office is trying to gain any advantage possible to win as many games possible, heading into the new stadium. They're not going to tank the year. It's basically similar to the Mike Cameron move.
There was clear upside with Cameron, though, given his history and somewhat poor luck on boston. Amezaga's never been a starting caliber player.
I don't really think we're considering starting him. Like I said, Bonifacio will likely be the starter at second base and Dobbs will probably start at third. That leaves Amezaga to be the supersub he was before.
Considering that they traded for Amezaga, Ramp appears to be saying that Thurston did not have to be the only alternative. They could have gone out and gotten some other shit perhaps or taken other crap from their system.

I fail to see how that makes it stupid?
1. They traded garbage.
2. The crap from the system is probably not as versatile as Amezaga's crap. Amezaga is basically a + defender at every position he plays. 2B, SS, OF.
He's not only an upgrade over Thurston/crap in the system; he's better than a couple of guys who are currently on the team's bench.

It's not "stupid" or "fucking retarded," at all.
It doesn't make it retarded. But that is why maybe Thurston didn't have to be the only alternative.
We traded shit and got shit that some people like in a season that does not much matter at this point. I give it a big whatevs
If the Marlins think they are still in the race, I don't like the move but I get it.
If the Marlins are out of the race (which we are), I don't get the move at all. Go get a young player somewhere. Try some things out. Amezaga does nothing besides amuse 8 fans on this board.
