I'm not a big fan of Stutes, but it's for Leo Nunez so whatever.

Why don't you like Stutes? Please enlighten me.

Because he's an extreme flyball pitcher with control issues.

Has Stutes been hurt all year? Why has he only thrown 10 innings so far?
          --------------------
nevermind, I see he was in the Phillies pen for 33 innings

Well we want a young ML ready arm and since Worley isn't going anywhere,Stutes would be next up.

He is nothing great but already has shown he can pitch in a ML Pen

Knowning us tho,we will just take a 20 yr old in A ball and have him up next year, even tho Julio Rodriguez is a pretty nice arm

Stutes is definitely a big league bullpen arm. He's proving that this year. Just saying I don't ever see him dominating or something.

He's also only 24 and does indeed have experience starting. I'm not sure if his control issues can be fixed to get him to start, again. He certainly has the stuff (got the secondary pitches, etc. according to his scouting reports).

I'm thinking reliever is best for him though, considering his numbers. He's really struggled against left-handed hitters this year, so I'm not sure if him seeing more lefties (as a starter) is the best idea.

If he's the guy we get in return, he certainly fits in our pen, though. He'd probably instantly take over the setup role here actually.

I really hope we're not doing the wait until Bell gets traded strategy here. That could leave us holding the bag after the deadline (and 0% Leo clears anyway, so it's the 31st or never).

That doesn't sound like a Beinfest/Marlins strategy anyway. We rarely allow the market to form before making a move, we do what we want, when we want (and that works here - regardless of what Bell gets the Padres, Leo's worth 2 B/B+ prospects if a team feels he's the missing piece, so Cleveland, Philly and probably the Yankees know what he's worth and know that he's going to cost a lot less than Bell)

Cleveland doesn't need him, for what it's worth.

And yeah, we never wait for the market to sort itself out so that would be surprising, really.

It is not us making the move,it is 4 teams wanting Heath Bell. Whatever 3 teams do not get him will then start calling us about Nunez and Toronto about their RP's. The reason why the Phillies called us about Nunez already was to see how much cheaper he was and we told them 2 young arms

He could still be traded to whomever claims him. Of course, that team would have zero incentive to include any actual prospects.

                                Just throwing that out there.
