Like a few other top contenders, the Philadelphia Phillies seem pretty well stacked, with one exception: their bullpen. And according to Jerry Crasnick, the Phillies are interested in Florida Marlins closer Leo Núñez, who's not a brilliant pitcher but currently ranks third in the National League with 27 saves ...
verybody has a lot of young starting pitching, somewhere. It's a question of quality and I'm not seeing a lot of high-quality young starting pitching, unless you count Vance Worley (who the Phillies seem exceptionally unlikely to trade, considering his surprising success; he's got the best ERA in the rotation!).
Then again, if the Phillies are willing to trade two of their best young arms -- no matter how far from the majors they might be -- for Núñez, that's a deal the Marlins certainly have to consider.
The Leo Nunez talk won't start till Heath Bell is dealt. Texas,Philly,LAA all want him.
Whatever 2 don't get him will then turn to Leo Nunez. The reason why Philly is already calling because Texas seems to be the favorite and Nunez is gonna be cheaper anyways
The names the Marlins are looking at from the Phillies are
Vance Worley (Highly doubt they would deal him)
Mike Stutes(Another I doubt they would deal has nice stats out of the pen)
JC Ramirez
Trevor May
Julio Rodriguez
Brody Colvin

Worley for Nuñez would be amazing, wow. I'm sure that's a far fetch, but I believe he is an "extra" starter the phillies have. I wish this would happen.
Texted back and forth with my Phillies scout on Thursday.
Me:"Y'all want Leo?"
Him:"Maybe. Was in Toronto last 3 days. No cell. Let me know what we should do."
Me: "I've read anything from Leo to Hammer to Beltran."
Him:"Somewhat true but not entirely."
