Jack McKeon has accepted the job to become interim manager of the Florida Marlins.
McKeon, 80, replaces Edwin Rodriguez, who resigned on Sunday. Florida has won just one game this month and has fallen into last place in the NL East.
McKeon took over as Marlins manager in the middle of the 2003 season and guided them from a losing record to the World Series championship, the only postseason appearance in his 15 seasons as a major league manager. He has not managed since leaving Florida after the 2005 season. McKeon's first big league managerial job came in 1973 with the Kansas City Royals. He has also managed the A's, Padres and Reds.
