Is Beinfest to Blame for Marlins' Skid?

Not sure whats dumb about it.

For all the failures the pretend-scouts on here love to mention about the draft, about 40% of the Marlins roster will be acquired via draft by the end of the year.

-Chris Volstad
-Brad Hand (once JJ comes back and the team is already out of the race/Javy Vazquez still sucks, he'll still be in the rotation).

-Matt Dominguez (he'll be called up at some point)

By August, that will be 10 players on the Marlins roster that were drafted.

That's pretty fucking great for an event that is basically a crapshoot/a team that isn't in the best financial situation to be keeping all of their players.

If there's a problem, it certainly isn't the draft.

Quite honestly, there have been years lately when the difference between making the playoffs and not making the playoffs was the Miguel Cabrera trade.

That's been one of the few mistakes (results-wise because, in hindsight, we were getting two top ten prospects in the deal) that this front office has made. It just so happens that the Miguel Cabrera mistake was really terrible, and teams with a small payroll can't afford to make such mistakes and get away with it. It's really that simple.

Okay if that's the case why does anyone here bitch & moan about the team ? If he's doing such a great job (Cincinnati is another example of a GM doing better than ours in the last few years) then why all the complaints about the team ? I just don't get it. Its Beinfest who puts the team together and not Loria, so why not blame him ?

Spending over 20 million more in payroll. You can do a lot of things with an extra 20 million. Wait 'till next year for that comparison.

It's totally Beinfest's fault that the team that was 11 games over .500 suddenly forgot how to hit and pitch.

They also stopped winning 1 run games at an unrealistic rate as well.

Someone posted it before, it's from a ways back but Loria said that with the new stadium the Marlins figure to bump up payroll to the middle of the pack of MLB. That would put us at around 85 million I believe.

Are team is young and promising, if we can start spending money I believe they can contend. Possibly even spend more on the draft for those who hate are ways of drafting.

Beinfest had one of the best off seasons in the team's history. This is in no way his fault. Just one of those years. On paper it was one of his best teams. Couldnt really count on the back of the of the rotation being worst in the league bad.

My point is that your obsession over the team being cheap in the draft is rather irrelevant.

The rounds you start complaining about...odds are that those guys aren't reaching the big leagues, anyway. It's a crapshoot.
