                Here's the full article.

Buster Posey’s season-ending collision with Marlins rookie Scott Cousins remains an emotional subject for the Giants, and clearly, one of those emotions is anger.

Giants GM Brian Sabean did not pull any punches while speaking with Ralph Barbieri and Tom Tolbert on their afternoon KNBR show today. He called Cousins’ targeted collision “malicious” and said he didn’t blame Posey for refusing to return an apologetic phone call.

“Why not be hard nosed?” Sabean said. “If I never hear from Cousins again or he never plays another game in the big leagues, I think we’ll all be happy.”

Asked later in the interview if perhaps those words were too harsh, Sabean didn’t back down. In fact, he left little doubt that the Giants are bent on getting some on-field vengeance.

“Well, no,” Sabean said. “He chose to be a hero in my mind, and if that’s his flash of fame, that’s as good as it’s going to get, pal. We’ll have a long memory. Believe me, we’ve talked to (former catcher Mike) Matheny about how this game works. You can’t be that out-and-out overly aggressive. I’ll put it as politically as I can state it: There’s no love lost and there shouldn’t be.”

Matheny said two days ago that he wasn’t in favor of legislating intentional hits on catcher who do not block the plate. Matheny suggested the issue was better handled by players on the field.

Sabean doesn’t share that view. He said Giants manager Bruce Bochy was able to speak to MLB on-field operations chief Joe Torre today, and that the conversation will have to continue with managers and other field personnel because they understand the game best.

Sabean also said that Posey was instructed by Bochy this spring to not block the plate, and he hopes people revisit the way they teach catchers how to play the position. He said it’s a shame that somewhere over the years, it became an unwritten rule that catchers have to turn into a wall to earn the respect of their teammates.

“In no way, shape or form was he blocking the plate,” Sabean said. “He was just reacting to the throw and trying to get back to make a tag. So (it’s) unfortunate. It’s one of those things that happens to your family. Until it happens to you and hits home, maybe it’s not as real what we’re going through.”

As for whether Posey will catch again, Sabean said he’s leaving that decision completely in Buster’s hands.

“That’s going to be up to Buster once he comes through this,” Sabean said. “I know he wants to catch. I know this is a horrific experience for him. He’s in a lot of pain right now. It’s psychologically difficult for him to rationalize this, so that decision is way up the line. But he’s a warrior and if he wants to catch the position then I’m sure he’ll come to camp next spring as a catcher.”

Sabean began the interview by saying he wasn’t going to judge Cousins or his mindset. But later on, he left no doubt on his feelings about the USF alumnus.

“If you listen to the kid’s comments after the fact, he pretty much decided and it was premeditated that if he got a chance, he was going to blow up the catcher to dislodge the ball,” Sabean said. “And if you watch frame by frame from different angles, he does not take the path to the plate to try to score. He goes after Buster, right shoulder on right shoulder, and to me, that’s malicious.”

“Buster doesn’t understand this. And until it happens to you … He went through a tremendous experience, maybe moreso mentally than physically. And he’s going through a hell of a time physically, with phantom pain we’re trying to … get under control, he’s not in a real good housing situation we’re going to have to get him out of, because stairs and how he needs to get around, so there’s a lot to get around here.

“I don’t blame the kid. Why not be hard nosed? If I never hear from Cousins again or he never plays another game in the big leagues, I think we’ll all be happy.”

He's been listening too much to Mike Matheny. It's time to GET OVER IT.

Gaby will probably clothesline Tim Lincecum and end his season, too. Be careful what you wish for, idiot.

This guy Sabean is a total idiot. No need to comment on his blathering, it speaks for itself.

But what troubles me is Posey. Who the fuck ? He can't take a call from Cousins ? Are you fucking joking ? This is the big leagues and these things happen. It wasn't malicious, but a good HARD clean hit. Posey it seems, thinks too highly of himself.

I guess I should expect that from a player who is a Mike "The Lord of No Rings" Martin disciple. I have hated Posey for years, since he was in Trailerhassee - now I hate that bastard even more.

Brian Sabean was so disgusted by JT Snow's dirty play, that he only allowed him to play 2 more seasons after this play, collecting $3.5 million from his organization, before signing him to a further one-day contract to retire with honor in his organization.

In all honesty, I'm in favor of a rule change. Plays like that aren't acceptable anywhere else on the diamond, why should they be there?

However, calling a player dirty and saying he doesn't deserve to be in the league because of a play that was 100% within the rules makes you look like a petulant brat.
