Can't be worse than a Buente go, that's my only real reasoning.

This is really a non-issue. It doesn't matter if they call up an AAA starter. We're carrying nine (9) relievers, and 6 of them, Badenhop, Sanches, Webb, Mujica, Dunn, and Cishek, are all capable of throwing at least 2 innings, if not more for a few of them. And we could easily option someone for the next day if some 15 inning disaster happens.
It's a bit dramatic. This isn't going to be the end of the world if it's bullpen day. If you want to say, you have more confidence in Koehler (or whoever) versus (presumably) Badenhop and Sanches to eat up the first 5-6 innings, cool. Maybe Koehler is a better idea than that. But some of the wild assertions of losing the pen for a weekend and this absolutely should not be considered or a good idea, is a bit dramatic. It's really not a big deal and not de facto overuse and/or abuse.

If it isn't going to help us win then why not call up the AAA guy and let him get shelled rather than putting that strain on the pen.
Scenario A: AAA starter goes 5, three pen arms close it out in a loss. Everyone available tomorrow.
Scenario B: Pen day, best case scenario 5 arms are used. More likely 6-7. Hopper/Sanchez are unavailable until Tuesday. Anyone who went 2 is most likely unavailable for the weekend. You lose anyway

The question over who will start Saturday can be answered in the bullpen. At least that’s manager Edwin Rodriguez’s plan for now.
Edwin said he’s leaning toward lettinng Brian Sanches start Saturday — as long as Sanches isn’t needed Friday.
Sanches threw a bullpen session today, and chances are he wono’t be needed Friday since Anibal Sanchez gave the bullpen a day off by throwing a complete game today.
Sanches has been effective this year. He’s 3-1 with a 1.52 ERA.
He has been vaulable in long relief, with scoreless appearances of three innings and four innings.
Saturday would be his first career start.
