  • Leroux Optioned to Double-A

On Thursday afternoon, Chris Leroux joined the Marlins after being called up from Double-A Jacksonville.

After Florida beat the Astros, 9-2, Leroux was optioned back to Double-A.

The right-hander pitched the ninth inning on Thursday, giving up one run on two hits with two walks. He threw 25 pitches.

The Marlins will announce on Friday who will replace Leroux in the bullpen. Cristhian Martinez, at Double-A Jacksonville, is an option to get called up.

i think leroux was called up, because he was fresh, and could of gone multiple innings if west struggled. Wood pitched back-to-back day on tuesday and wednesday, and probable would be unavialable to go today.

      BC?

Can't be BC - we need another arm more than we need a bench bat IMO.

I know we have 13 arms, which is 1 more than usual, but we have 2.5 rotation slots that are a very large probability of not getting to the 6th inning. We need to have a 13th arm until Hopper returns and gives us 2 long arms.

Cody left with an injury...it's got to be Carroll coming back.

Yeah but Cody said he was fine, and I'm sure if it's only a precautionary hold out tomorrow (if even that), we can go with Bonifacio in CF and Hermida in RF for one day.

But if someone twists an ankle, we're fucked. Carroll comes up, even if it's only for two days.

if ross is hurt, that means Emilio starts, but then there is no backup CF on the marlins' current roster. Herms, CC, and Gload are all corner OFs. BC played CF in the minors and the majors.

he gives the marlins depth and flexibility

But RVH and Volstad start on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. God forbid we have a rain delay (I think more likely in August than a sprained ankle) or a bad outing from one of the two unreliable starters (or maybe even JJ, no one is perfect) against a team ahead of us in the WC standings.
