I just watched it. He was definitely moving towards 1st base. It would have been easier to turn to 2nd and get the out there. He was moving towards his left and had to throw with his momentum towards his back. It was a more difficult throw to get accuracy on than pivoting towards 2nd.

Where is it watchable? I'm going by what one of my assistant coaches told me.

          On the Nats site.

I was wrong, he was moving more towards his left than anything.

Making an accurate throw with your momentum to your back is tough. It's why he doesn't get much on the throw and the throw goes wide. He almost spins around after the throw because of his momentum.

He gets more on the throw and likely makes a more accurate throw if he pivots, plants and throws to 2nd, since his momentum is already leaning that way.

But he also made the decision to come home well before he got the ball.

I still don't ming the throw. Even though it was was way off line, it was still bang bang.

He did what all 3rd baseman are coached to do.

I don't necessarily mind the decision, I just think the throw was off because of how he had to play it, and he probably could have gotten a better throw to 2nd.

                    You're probably right.
