Mike Stanton had an MRI Monday that showed a mild strain on his left hamstring.

There are no plans to put him on the disabled list but he probably won’t return to the starting lineup until some time this weekend.

Stanton took batting practice in the cage today and he might be take batting practice today on the field. He will be available to pinch-hit — as a last option –but not run on the base paths.

“He’s at 65, 70 percent right now,” manager Edwin Rodriguez said.

“Probably for the weekend he might take the field. I think that’s good news.”

Stanton left Friday’s game — the season opener — after the fifth inning because of a tight left hamstring. He hasn’t played since then.

Rodriguez said Stanton has not had a setback since Friday. The team decided to take advanateh of Monday’s offday to have the MRI “to give the trainers a better idea of what we are dealing with.”

This is the second leg injury for Stanton since spring training. He missed most of spring training with a strained right quad.

Emilio Bonifacio is back in right field today. But Edwin says the team will miss Stanton

“When you take Michael Stanton away from that lineup, it’s a huge difference,” Edwin said.
“Not having him in the middle of the order is a huge setback.”

Brian Sanches, who pitched four innings in relief on Sunday, will get the day off tonight…

Edward Mujica will be available. He tweaked the back of his left knee on Sunday…

If he can't play this weekend you have to put him on the DL and at least call up another bat. Altho its not like we have anything in the minors worth calling up to hit tho.
