  • So you're ok with a couple walk-off homeruns from Donnie Murphy? Just making sure that's what I'm gathering.

    • I'm having a hard time accepting that this is our best option for 3B right now.

It'll make me happy but that's all I'm anticipating. Not that I want that to be our best outcome, but just kinda going with what we have.

        • No no... I'm saying I would be thrilled if he had a couple of walkoff shots. I'm not expecting much from him. Anything above the norms would be a pleasant surprise.

          • Yes, to bring back the thrill of last year. That'll make me a very happy camper.

            • Fan of Donnie, but I don't see him starting 150+ for us at 3B. He'll get a chance but they'll be rotating people around until Domingo Glover hits about .250 in AAA, which is Marlins Major League Ready.

              • Yea, I'm hoping he goes Bo Hart on us for 4-5 weeks and then we move on once he comes crashing back to Earth.

                • member Boner's 1st season with us? He had that awesome what 2 weeks? We all loved him and then came crashing back to earth.. I'm for Murphy if nothing else he is at the bottom of the lineup and any production we get is kinda a bonus.

                  • I think he can play very good D at 3b. and put up a .750-.770 OPS.

                      • As long as he's not a butcher, he'll be a fine stopgap in my book
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

                        • I imagine he's at least average defensively for a 3b (He was a SS, afer all, albeit a bad one) and I think he can put up a slg-filled .750 OPS (around what CHONE had him before the guy stopped doing them cuz he got employed by a team)

This isn't our best option, but unless they were blown away I doubt a move would have been made. This FO always lets the in-house option fail before getting someone. We're going to have a month of Donnie/Boner before any type of move is made. I've never been a fan of this strategy. They pinned their 3B on a guy who we knew from the get go wasn't going to hit and no we're stuck with this.

It's not as if that really matters.

If that's the main concern, the trade should be done because Leo Nunez is not our long-term closer, anyway. Sooner or later, the Marlins will realize that they're spending too much money on an average closer.

There a bunch of candidates in the organization who have the stuff to get the job done one day. Webb, Marinez, Dunn, etc.

If he's slightly below neutral and hacks a Brandon Ingesque .240/.300/.435, I'll be very happy. 1+ WAR is huge. I can't believe I'm saying that.
