  • Marlins Sign Esteban Yan

In other news, the Marlins signed former major league Esteban Yan and assigned him to Triple-A New Orleans. No word yet on whether Yan will work in the Zephyrs depleted rotation or head straight to the pen. Yan has not pitched in the majors since 2006, when he split the season between the Angels and Reds.

The Marlins signed him from the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Independent Atlantic League, where he was 10-4 with a 3.43 ERA, 34 walks and 78 strikeouts in 133 2/3 innings (21 games, 18 starts).

I hear he is more a AAA RP arm,the guys were dead in NOLA. They brought up Gunderson and 2 other young guys to pitch.

The name I hear we are looking at is FLASH Gordon. Arizona released him, even tho injured most of the year this guy could seriously help us. Doubtful tho because probably every big team is looking at him

I'm not sure how Tom Gordon could seriously help us. He is not good and won't be good again.

Reliever Esteban Yan, who the Marlins signed out of the independent Atlantic League and earmarked for Triple-A, failed his physical.
