Chris Coghlan might not be ready for opening day.
Coghlan was supposed to make his second straight start in center field today but was scratched. The plan now is to play in minor league games without testing his throwing arm.
“My arm is just not ready to go,” he said this morning. “I…can’t keep going out there and kind of baby-ing my arm.”
An MRI earlier this week showed no damage, but there’s too much inflammation, Coghlan said.
Starting the seaosn on the disbaled list, Coghlan said, “is something I haven’t even discussed (with the team). I’m hoping it doesn’t even get to that point,. LIke I told you guys before, I don’t know how long this is going to last.
“Hopefully it gets better and I’ll be ready to go April 1. Hopefully, I’ll be able to go before then and play the last couple of games with the team. That’s what I want. Time will tell.
Opening day starts two weeks from tomorrow, and the Marlins’ starting outfielder have not played a game together yet. But two of them will play today in a minor league game — Coghlan and right-fielder Mike Stanton, who’s coming back from a strained right quad.
If Coghlan isn’t ready, that means Dewayne Wise and Scott Cousins could win bench spots, with Wise — this is my speculation — possibly starting in center field.
Starting lineup

CF Bonifacio
2B Infante
SS Ramirez
1B Sanchez

No game thread today but Marlins offense wakes up after Hudson leaves the game Wise with a double to bring two in for the lead. During that inning, Matty D and Cousins got hits as well as Ozzie. Marlins lead 4-3 now.

Victor Garate fucked up what could have been another perfect set of outings for the Marlins BP. Gave up solo HR with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie it.
