    88 mph is a relief.

Well, it really depends on how often he hit 88, though. The article said that he "topped out at 88". Not "averaged 88 " or was "consistently at 88".

Yes, it's still early but this is something that bares watching. You can't really take anything out of this start other than he threw strikes and didn't get hurt. The stats are really irrelevant since he faced a team of college guys. I'd expect anyone with any significant major league service time to be able to handle guys that haven't even been drafted yet.

If he wasn't airing it out, 88 mph could mean when he's physically ready he could top out 90-92 on a semi consistent basis.

I'd be worried if he topped out ~85ish.

I suppose. I just thought relief was a funny word choice.

I am a nitpicky son of a bitch.

Garate & Cishek pitched great, a lot of strikes.

Petersen also did good. I am rooting for him over Wise.

Ozzie Martinez is another guy that I am rooting for, but I don't think he can win the job over Boni. Boni is too versatile, and his speed speaks for itself.

If only he can get up to 1.21 jiggawatts as well.

He didn't look much better in person. He looked really rusty. He'd get ahead but couldn't finish guys off, a couple guys put up some long AB's against him and he was missing more than we usually see from JJ.

But, like I said yesterday, it's no big deal. It's the first start of the year and it's spring training.

Remember that game last year that we were ahead but the bullpen blew it late?

                              Yep, good times.

When I saw replay of Marlins Rockies.. I thought back to the Kevin Gregg 4th of July game.. Think I got my 1st grey hair from that.
