  • A Backdrop Fit for Baseball

    From LoMo's Twitter:

In one year and two months, baseball in Miami will be played in front of a backdrop made for a postcard.

Few pictures have made me more excited about the ballpark than this one.

I've had that for a while. Thought about sharing it, but I thought somebody would say something like "welcome to a year ago"

Damn I didn't think it was going to look that good.

Well in some respects it isn't. When the lights are on inside and the window is closed the skyline won't look that good.

I asked about this and there has not been a decision made on SS concerts making the trip south.

                    I hope they don't

this isn't Sonny and Cher Variety Hour, it's a fucking baseball team. I understand the need for it when 8000 people show up to weekend games normally, but we should have a good turnout and not need Willie Chirino and fireworks to draw out an extra 5k

Funny thing about Willy Chirino, the major avenue on the west side of the ballpark, is named Willy Chirino Way.

Another great thing about that shot, is that fans on the third base side will have a completely different look. The Miami skyline extends another few miles south. This picture only shows MiMo, the Biscayne Wall and parts of the Central Business District. Everyone on the third base side will easily see the Central Business District and Brickell.

Brickell's skyline is denser and wider (left half of this pic):

(This is closer and on the opposite side, but you get the point.)

Wasn't the roof opening designed to cover a stage on the back? Seems perfect for Willy Chirino. =)
