    Well, I learned something.

But yeah, definitely disagree with withholding James in any trade that brings back an impact player, especially at a position of need

It would be great if they could take on some of his salary.

Perfect example of "There Is No Such Thing As A Pitching Prospect" within our organization, Jeff Allison, Andrew Miller, Sean West?(idk if he is considered that yet).

I will never get over the offer the padres wanted, one of Sean West or Andrew Miller for Heat FUCKING Bell. This is another perfect example that there is no such thing as a pitching prospect. I think Loria and Beinfest learned that already. I think Loria actually mentioned this year that if Bell would go on the market he would be all over him.

I don't know about Maybin.. Here's some old reports from MLBTR-

By Tim Dierkes [July 30, 2009 at 1:48pm CST]
1:48pm: A Rosenthal/Morosi source says the Rangers aren't in on Bell, Sherrill, or Matt Capps.

11:49am: ESPN's Buster Olney says the Marlins declined the request for Miller or West, leaving talks between the two clubs at a standstill.

Meanwhile, Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post says the Marlins are also in on George Sherrill.

11:12am: SI's Jon Heyman tells us the Marlins are "are in serious discussions to try to land Padres closer Heath Bell." Heyman says it looks like it could be Andrew Miller or Sean West, names that have beenput forth in previous reports. Either young lefty seems like a solid return for Bell. Heyman notes that the Yanks also have interest, but the Fish "are in good position to make a deal." Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi at FOX Sports acknowledgeinterest fromthe Yanks, but say the teamshave not had serious discussions. The writers also mention the Rangers "on the periphery."

Rosenthal and Morosi wrote yesterday that 10 to 15 teams are pursuing Bell. He's under team control through 2011 and sports a 2.01 ERA this season.

Any time you can give up a ton of prospects for a player who hasn't looked the same in 2 years and is coming off a serious injury, you pretty much gotta do it.

Even in 2009 in a down year for him, his .788 OPS combined with what I would think is + defense would be well worth it.

If he gets back to that, I would agree.

He looked lost at the plate last year before the injury.

How many baseball players have had microfracture surgery?

Didn't BJ Upton? (I know not helping the case of a rebound, just I thought he did).
                  --------------------
And this is just me, but if we can get Sizemore without giving up Stanton/Hanley/JJ/Coghlan/LoMo/Nolasco or both Infante and Dominguez (I like the idea of + infield D, I'm sold already) we basically have to do it, injury concerns or not.

If Sizemore is healthy, the package is at least what Arizona wanted for Justin Upton. It's one of those things where, even at $8 million or whatever he's owed, you have to take that risk if you're a team like the Marlins. There's just no way to get a guy (potentially) as good as he is at market rate, it'll cripple the franchise.

I don't think Sizemore would cost as much as Upton.

I think a package with James, Volstad and Marinez/Ceda is a strong offer.

Sucks to give up Volstad after such a great 2 last months of the '10 season. He posted up a 7-1 record accompanied by a 2.04 era over his last 11 starts.

He's already had his spring training return date pushed back to "hopefully opening day."

Yeah, sucks to give up a guy we didn't give up. I think this thread title would be better on a Nats message board

Why would Cleveland even consider that?

How far out from surgery is he? Rotoworld only goes back to September with him.

He was cleared for activity January 5. Microfracture is usually an 18 month recovery to get back to full speed (at least for athletes). If he's productive at all by Opening Day that'd be a minor miracle.

We'll throw in Chris Seddon and Nate Bump to really wake them up.
