Marlins Sign Wise, Others

Dewayne Wise is one of four players the Marlins signed to minor league deals, according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America (Twitter links). The team also added infielder Joe Thurston, catcher Clint Sammons and corner infielder Jamie D'Antona.

Wise is a nice CF contingency plan and I'd love to see D'Antona have a great spring and take the 3B job. He had a nice run in Japan

definitely think he's a sleeper, had a great career in the minors although he was a little old for his levels and has had success in Japan

that being said, he's almost 30. I'd be willing to bet he's starting for an extended period of time this year though.

He better rake cause his 3B defense makes Cantu look like a gold glover and that's not even factoring in that he played 1B exclusively in Japan so he hasn't played it since 08.
