PHILADELPHIA -- If the Marlins reach the postseason, they can look back at this series as a turning point.
Desperate for a three-game sweep to pull within manageable striking distance, the Marlins stepped up behind Josh Johnson's six strong innings and a season-high 19-hit attack to beat the Phillies, 12-3, on Sunday afternoon in front of 45,169 at Citizens Bank Park.
The 50th sellout of the season at Philadelphia watched the Marlins take their third straight, moving them to within four games of the Phillies in the National League East.
The Marlins completed their six-game road trip at 3-3, which didn't seem as realistic after they were swept at Washington.
Johnson (11-2) recorded his 19th quality start of the season, giving up one run on four hits over six innings. In 23 starts, the 25-year-old has compiled 154 innings, which is three shy of his career most set in his rookie season in 2006.
The Marlins were able to complete the sweep with a rare win over Jamie Moyer, who gave up three runs (two earned) on 11 hits in five innings. The soft-tossing lefty is now 13-3 lifetime against Florida.
Hanley Ramirez had four hits and three RBIs, Chris Coghlan notched four hits and two RBIs, and Cody Ross collected three hits and an RBI. Jorge Cantu also drove in two runs.
Tensions spilled over for the Phillies in the seventh, and the Marlins capitalized with six runs, all coming with two outs.
With Wes Helms leading off the seventh, the Phils' Shane Victorino, standing in center field, was ejected by home-plate umpire Ed Rapuano. In the bottom of the sixth, the inning ended when Johnson struck out Ryan Howard looking with the count full. The Phillies stranded runners at the corners, and Howard was upset with the call.
Victorino was tossed after an 0-2 pitch from Rodrigo Lopez to Helms was ruled a ball by Rapuano. Victorino charged towards Rapuano and had to be restrained by his teammates. The ejection prompted the sellout crowd to chant "Victorino!"
The Marlins went on to send 10 to the plate. With the bases loaded, Coghlan had a two-run single, and three runs scored when Jayson Werth misplayed the ball in center. Ramirez added a two-run double, which was his 160th career two-base hit, sixth all-time in Florida history. Cantu added an RBI single, opening a 9-1 lead.
Pedro Feliz's two-run homer off Dan Meyer in the seventh made it 9-3.
Coghlan established a Marlins record by posting his eighth consecutive multihit game. The rookie had a single in the third and followed that up with a single to right in the sixth to set the mark.

The pre-2008 Roy Oswalt died a long time ago.
The way the NATINALS are playing, you just have to tip your cap to them. It was sort of unthinkable that we got swept by them but to come back and sweep the Phils in Philly is just like WOW.
So many guys stepped up today in a huge game. We went from "season over" after the WAS series to 4 games out of 1st.
