        We still can trade Burke.

i'm aware but not sure why we would sign him to trade him. can't imagine his trade value is anything of value.

True, someone may have a Hopper fetish like me. You never know.

Burke does work. This is best.

I really don't understand this, but I guess we'll wait to see what they do with Leo.

But I don't know why you want to guarantee bullpen spots to 5 right handers (Hensley, Mujica, Webb, Sanches, Badenhop) and have no flexibility with call ups without going to the lefties

Probably will just option him and keeping him for depth. He'll make less in AAA, just like Andy Milly, no? That's why you keep him and not Veras.

He has an option? Haven't all three been used 2008-2010?

I thought he was out as well. Didn't last year everyone think he was out but wasn't?

Last offseason, Nny had a post on mb.com listing Badenhop as still having 2 options left. Considering what happened in 2010 (got sent down, brought back up over 20 days after)...that's 1 option used, so wouldn't that mean he does actually have 1 left? Player options confuse me.

You "may" be eligible for a 4th option if you have under 5 years of service time, which Hopper does. But I don't know the requirements beyond that. I thought it was rare unless there was injury or some year where a minimum amount of time was spent up. Badenhop doesn't really have either of those.

But if he has an option, this contract makes a ton of sense. It would be nice to have him in our pocket on a split contract to move up and down when needed. Because he spends a lot of time down... but when he is up, he eats a ton of innings. His era/whip lines are very surprising the last two years based on all the shellings he dishes out also.

Badenhop didn't use an option in 2008. He wasn't on the 40 man roster until we called him up, and he stayed on the 25 man roster all year (DL).

He most definitely has at least one option left. He's used at most two. No 4th option needed
