  • Marlins, Javier Vazquez Agree To One Year Deal

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals are no longer in the running to acquire the services of right-hander Javier Vazquez, according to a baseball source, because he is close to agreeing to terms with the Marlins.

    Wonder if it's a one-year deal.

        Johnson
        Sanchez
        Nolasco (assuming he stays put)
        Vazquez
        Volstad

That's a hell of a rotation. I mean, even Volstad is a good fifth starter.

We lack the south paw but it's nice.

I had a dream we traded for Justin Upton. I asked Beinfest, did you trade Cogz and Nolasco? He said yes, and I told him in his face "YOU'RE THE FUCKING MAN!"

Hopefully this is our next move, even though I like the team how it is right now. I am looking forward to Dec.6-9th, the Fish and Red Sox seem to be the top suitors for Upton, and i'm excited.

I wonder what Javy's contract will look like. Maybe 1/8, which can become 1/10 with bonus'.

Really liking this offseason. Just the fact, that they are active in the FA market is exciting, giving that the past years the biggest FA signing is Luis Gonzalez.

Hopefully, this new philosphy of spending will carry over to the draft, cause I keep on reading that this is the most deepest class in a while.

hopefully Garland's contract with the Dodgers will lower Javy's price tag

I hope we put some kind of option in there, but not having to give him 3 years is awesome.

So, to recap the off-season so far:

                              IN:
                              Javier Vazquez
                              John Buck
                              Edward Mujica
                              Ryan Webb
                              Omar Infante
                              Mike Dunn
                              Dustin Richardson

                              OUT:
                              Dan Uggla
                              Cameron Maybin
                              Andrew Miller

I'd give the FO an A- so far. The poor return for Uggla is the only thing keeping me from giving them a full A, but that wasn't even really their fault because they had no leverage.
