Let's see who blinks first.
He isn't getting more than that and he already declined it so it isn't a game of chicken once that happens. He doesn't want to be here so it's time we just move him for some other assets.

      • I hope they AJ Smith him. Although arbitration kinda limits that

        • The only thing with trading him is that is not a great message to send to your fanbase when you're moving into a new stadium. The wounds from the whole Cody Ross thing are still fresh in the minds of a lot of the fans. To trade Uggla in the wake of that would make things worse and not be good for season ticket sales for the new stadium.

          • We fucking offered him 4/48 screw him if he wants more than that.

            • Yeah, if that's not good enough for him, he can get out. Seriously, that's *way more than I would want to pay him.

*By like 750k per year, so not really "way more", but fuck him.

              • Do you think the general fanbase gives a crap that he turned down 4/48? Most of them probably don't even realize that's more than he's worth. I'm talking about the general fanbase here. Most of us here didn't go ballistic on the Cody Ross waiver thing but the general fanbase did. It's a matter of image.

                • So lets overpay a player just because the general fan likes him.

                    • I think this is one situation where a trade won't upset the fanbase. I mean, we offered the guy four years and $48 million. That's more than fair for Uggla.

                        This.

Has the front office ever shown that they will alter their decisions for PR considerations? Right or wrong, they don't care about how a decision "looks" to the general fanbase.

Any fan who knows about the Cody thing will also be aware that Uggla turned down 4/48. Cody's comments weren't any more notable than Uggla turning down the deal.
