Correct. From what i gathered, they liked Leroux more than Wood. Kinda caught me off guard to be honest.

I am not a fan of this, but his best case scenario was kind of an average reliever, so whatever.
        --------------------
But either way, is rather keep him than wood or Sosa.

well claimed doesn't mean he's left us yet... unless I'm reading it wrong

we can pull him off waivers, or even trade him

No, he's gone. What you are referring to is what happens between Aug 1 and 31. Those are suppose to be kept secret but no longer are. This is a waiver claim, he's with the Pirates now.

I don't think the date matters. I think the August 31st deadline is to be eligible for the playoffs.

Could be wrong though... have been slipping in the MLB rules recently

I thought his spot on the roster was bulletproof.

You're right about the playoff cutoff. It' like when the Marlins claimed Cody Ross off of waivers a few years ago. It means that two or three days ago, the Marlins placed Leroux on waivers, seeing if they could slip him through to outright him to the minors, it's like DFA someone without the 10 day period.

Yea, I know what that stuff is. Just misread what Frisaro wrote.

Just because the Pirates claimed him doesn't mean we can't pull him off waivers or trade him. Apparently we just let the Pirates take him for free though.

They'll claim him ,he will be great for them next year, and then they trade him. It's a vicious circle, the Pirates will suck for eternity.
