  • Tank Optioned to AAA, Andrew Miller Recalled

    The biggest shocker though is that they're recalling struggling left-hander Andrew Miller from Double A Jacksonville to pitch in the bullpen. Miller, who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since Sept. 22, 2009, has struggled all season in the minors. He's 2-9 with a 5.35 ERA over 21 starts between Single A Jupiter and Jacksonville.

    To make room in the bullpen, the Marlins optioned left-handed specialist Taylor Tankersley to Triple A New Orleans. Tankersley was pounded in Monday's loss has a 7.50 ERA in 27 appearances this season.

          I know they say that they're calling him up for the bullpen but I wonder how long he'll stay there. I could see Andrew and Alex getting flipped for each other to get a lefty in the rotation.

            A lefty in the rotation/bullpen? more like a batting practice arm for teams to rack off of. How the fuck does someone sporting a 6 plus era, with horrible control, in AA get called up to the majors

                That's why I can see him being thrown into the rotation. With West on the DL, our next option for left-handed starting pitching is Miller.

                I hope I'm wrong. I'd rather run with the 5 righties than to see Miller in the rotation after the absolutely shitty season he has had in AA.

                  Miller needs to get a chance and Edwin needs to trust him or he may never have the confidence a young guy needs

                    Rebuild that confidence.

                      Miller's line scores for his last 4 starts;

                      8/1: 5 IP, 8 H, 6 R 4 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 7.20 ERA, 2.50 WHIP, .364 BAA
                      8/6: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 7 K, 9.45 ERA, 3.33 WHIP, .259 BAA
                      8/11: 3.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 3 K, 12.27 ERA, 8.00 WHIP, .474 BAA
                      8/16: 4.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 6.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, .500 BAA

                      He is 1-8 with a 6.01 ERA in AA and has not been what I would call impressive this month. I don't get how this merits a call up.

                            Beef, between August 12th and 14th he didn't allow a baserunner.
