  • West to DL, Sanabia Recalled

Yes, that Miller. The Andrew one.

We had heard earlier in the night that left-hander Sean West might not start Thursday. It turned out to be true. The Marlins placed West (0-2, 7.71 ERA) on the disabled list with right knee inflammation and recalled right-hander Alex Sanabia (1-1, 4.63 ERA) from Triple A New Orleans to start in his place. Sanabia was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA over 14 innings for the Zephyrs in two starts since being sent down July 31.

Manager Edwin Rodriguez said West hurt his knee running poles on Monday at PNC Park.

I didn't think I could post on the front page. I thought only the Admins could.

Next transaction…the Marlins placed left-hander Sean West on the disabled list with right knee inflammation and recalled right-hander Alex Sanabia, who will start Thursday’s series finale in Pittsburgh instead of West. Tuesday, West had ice on his knee for a second straight day. He said it was just preventative and came with being 6-foot-8.
Manager Edwin Rodriguez said West felt some discomfort after running a couple of days ago and the pain was worse Wednesday.

In the most head-scratching move of the night, the Marlins optioned left-hander Taylor Tankersley to New Orleans and recalled Andrew Miller from Double-A Jacksonville. Rodriguez said Miller will be used out of the bullpen. He was starting for the Suns. Not exactly sure what Miller did to merit the promotion.
In 18 starts at Double-A, he was 1-8 with a 6.01 ERA, 61 walks and 66 strikeouts in 85 1/3 innings. Miller had taken the loss in three of his four August outings, going 0-3 with an 8.84 ERA and .384 opponents’ batting average in 19 1/3 innings.
Helms signed, West scratched, Tankerlsey optioned, West DLed, Sanabia and Miller recalled

            Sean West injured
The team isn’t too happy with LHP Sean West, who injured his right knee while doign routing running drills in the outfield on Monday.

West is on the DL now (right knee inflammation), and there’s a feeling that if he was in abetter shape that the injury might not have occured.

RHP Alex Sanabia will be called up from Class AAA New Orleans to start Thursday in West’s place.

            The return of Andrew Miller
We got this piece of news too late to get an explanation of “why” — as in, why was LHP Andrew Miller recalled from Class AAA New Orleans to replace demoted LHP Taylor Tankersley?
