We all know that Mike Lamb should have been called back up. Right MK7?

Luna is bad defensively (career -11 UZR/150 both at 2b and 3b), but like others have said, he's on the bench.

I have to imagine Murphy gets bulk of the starts. He's the youngest (27 to Luna's 30 to Helms 34), plays the best defense, has the highest offensive potential, will be making the minimum next year (90% sure Luna will be arbitration eligible, Helms a FA) so you give him the most PA and it doesn't hurt you and it allows you see just what he can do for you next season. Luna might not be here, Helms might be here but in a back up role, you can see just if Murphy is legit or not though.

I'm surprised they just didn't bring up Dominguez.

I don't think they're looking at Murphy for 3rd for next year. Beinfest even said that the original plan was to trade Cantu and move CC to 3rd. Everyone else is just a place holder until CC returns.

Dominguez is OPSing .695 at AA. Bringing him up would be a very poor idea right now.

Dominguez plays awesome defense which would be the point but he should be in the minors right now.

Well Luna is called up because CC is injured. So that means Murphy and Helms take CC spot and Luna takes one of their spots pinch hitting.

People need to look at the overall picture just that player X is replaced by player Y.

I think it might have been sarcasm.

Right, the question is though is can he hit ML pitching now or is he still going to suck like he did for the A's a few years ago.

if he still sucks he isn't worth the bench spot next year.

But if he can bring it that's awesome production from a back up MI

                  Our bench right now is

Paulino/going outside the org for a club controlled RH C
                  More than likely Helms
                  Bonifacio
                  Possibly Murphy
                  Left handed OF bat

If Helms leaves, Murphy can take his spot and the last spot is up in the air for anything.

And even though right now you look at him for the bench, there's also the fact that we have no clue what's going to happen between now and the start of next season (Could be goodbye Uggla, could be goodbye Gaby/CC/Logan) and seeing. And if he shows he can be an average starter, that leaves options open.

JoeCap sez Helms will get majority of starts at 3b, with Luna get 2-3 starts a week

Sadly, not really a surprise though.
