Doesn't get any easier with San Diego, Philadelphia, and St. Louis coming up.

Mike Stanton is not a fan of singles.

I still say Anibal should be signed longterm before Nolasco. Just don't think they will when his arm being held together by strings.

You think he should be signed long term despite realizing that his arm is held together by strings?

He will be a lot cheaper because of that and if he is taken year to year and doesn't get injured itd be a lot more expensive. Rather have to eat his contract which won't be to expensive.

Also would like to see him moved to the bullpen for September to limit his innings.

Yeah, he's getting close. Would like to see him limited to less than 150 this year.

What do you mean by long term? Because it's not as "NO" as you are putting it.

Anibal isn't going to make much in year 5 arbitration next year, somewhere in the mid 2s more than likely. Even if he is AWESOME in 2011, since he has started so low, he wouldn't climb to much more than say $4.5-5 in 2012 in his last arbitration year. Year to year, is giving him like $6-7 million bucks over 2 years. That is nothing.

The risk/reward is, the marlins are absolutely going to give him arbitration and slot him as the # 3 starter next year at the rate he is going. There is no liability towards 2011. He's going to get that money. So the question is, is it worth handing him say $4 or $4.5 guaranteed in 2012, in exchange for say a ridiculously friendly team option for $6 million or so? If I'm the Marlins, I seriously consider that. It's not costing much, and if you cans secure one or more free agency year at a below market rate, what have you lost. $4 million dollars in 2012? BFD. I think something like 2/$6.5, with a team option (or vesting based on inning totals) to raise to 3/$12-14, would be mutually beneficial to each party.

It's not a bad idea. It's an opportunity to maximize resources if the Marlins medical staff firmly believes he is going to be alright going forward.
