      .318/.381/.602 in Jamestown, 88 AB, 6 HR, 8/25 BB/K. He's 19 years old this season.

Like to see less K's, but maybe they have something here. This is a repeat level so far. Not sure if they intend to push him to Greensboro, or wait until next year for that.

And Jamestown is a massive hitters park for power.

Not that it makes it bad, just not as impressive.

FWIW he's slugging better on the road (.321/.333/.679) than he is at home (.314/.442/.486) albeit small sample size

his BABIP is crazy high though...sitting at .386 right now

i like him but i'm not sure this is for real

He started quick last year too, but he's pretty much doing what he did in the GCL last year with more power. Ozuna isn't a guy that came out of nowhere. He signed for something like $200k out of the DR, although it came well after the July 2 signing date. Outside of Jose Torres he was the most premium piece of our international signings for the 07-08 period. There's a lot to believe is real here.

You are right, he does have a high BABIP, but he's also putting only 40% of his batted balls on the ground, so that number will probably be a little high. Maybe not that high, though.

They wanted him and started him in GBoro but he broke his wrist like 4 games into the season. More than likely he starts in GBoro next year with a push to Jupiter IF he destroys the league

                I mean don't get me wrong, I think he's legit, but I don't think he's a 1.000 OPS. Not even a .900 OPS.

GB actually improve BABIP, FBs hurt BABIP

But FBs = power, well, if you have the power to back it up. And career 49% FB rate = awsm for that.

Ozuna has 17 HR so far. If he hits one more, he 'll have more HR than anyone in the NYPL since 1999 when Dan Grummit hit 22 (he was 23 and also had about 100 more ABs). He's currently tied with fellow Marlin, Miguel Fermin. Which is funny.

He also strikes out and doesn't walk.

Jamestown is also far and away the easiest park to hit HRs in in the NYPL

                        it's a bandbox

all the doubles he hit in Roger Dean stadium are able to go for HRs in this park

                          Sure. Definitely true.

But he has a 9/8 home to away split for HR. In the past 10 years, the mean for NYPL HR leaders is 13 (this years 2nd place is 12 as of now). So, I think his production as a top power producer in the recent history of the NYPL is valid.

Not to mention he is 19, while most NYPL HR leaders in the past have been 21 or older.

I'm not saying it isn't impressive, it just loses some lust based off his home park. With how much he puts the ball in the air, he should have a very productive Greensboro also, as long as his plate discipline doesn't eat him alive

BA ranked Ozuna the 4th best prospect in the NYPL. Any BA subscribers who can read the scouting report?
