You can't do one without the other. This team will go younger for next season, but if the FO expects to contend they will need to stock up on FA relievers and a respectable bench.

The Heat should throw in ownership stakes in the Fish to their package to D-Wade

That's exactly it. They need to bring in a veteran core of relievers and bench players to play behind the starters. There's nothing wrong going younger if it's with Morrison/Maybin/Stanton/Gaby/Coghlan/West/Sanabia, but they can't patchwork the bench and bullpen with this crap. Guys like Dominguez, Ceda, Marinez, and Jennings should not be the ones counted on to turn the team around right now. They should be the ones in the wings and have to force themselves onto the team.

                  ---

They aren't as bad as their record, and the 1 run record will swing back to normal next year as that fluctuates. The team's longterm position is not a lost cause despite how terrible they are playing this year. They have a top 5 position player and top 5 starting pitcher, and a lot of talent around them. This team is going to be fine, they just need to stop being cute with Jose Veras, Brian Barden, Mike Lamb, etc, who are all fine signings for AAA and to come up in case there are multiple injuries, but not guys that are on the MLB roster for half the season. Hopefully trying to build into the stadium makes them realize that they need to plug holes. And they can do it for cheap as these aren't core players.

Blow up the team? That's really just trading Cantu, Cody, Helms, Nate Rob, maybe Uggla if you get blown away with an offer, but that's really it. There are instant replacements for that with Morrison, Maybin, and West. You're not losing much there so it's tough to say it's blowing it up.
