If Harold's the manager the team can't go to Outback Steakhouse for dinner anymore.

Todd's thoughts on Valentine must have persuaded Loria/Samson/Beinfest from hiring Bobby.

This is just....ugh. I'm afraid to see who ends up being hired.

I don't blame him for passing on the job now. Valentine likely knows that he's the only guy they'd offer this job to on a non-interim basis. Next offseason, he'll have a wider selection of job opportunities and a better indication of what this team looks like in 2011. And if the Marlins job goes to someone else, so what? It's not like the Marlins are one of MLB's premier jobs anyway.
Way too early, but the way Heyman reported it made it sound like the Marlins were the ones backing off.

I can understand this move on Bobby's part if the above is the case. That would just prove how incredibly dumb this front office is when needing to follow up a move with another.

If the Marlins backed off, I really hope it was because they didn't want to pay the $1 million buyout of his ESPN deal.

                Hilarious.

I hope Bobby turned them down when he realized how douchey and retarded they are

No link or verfication on this but I emailed my friend(guy who does research for Rosenthal) and everyone is hearing this is true

Loria wants Bobby Valentine however does not want to commit any extra cash to the team until the stadium is built. The only way Bobby signs is if we are buyers this year and start spending cash, which is not happening anytime soon.

Plan B seems to be Bo Porter and If Porter is named the coach we are blowing up the team.

Again no link or verfication just what buddy is hearing from people who cover MLB

We are the ones backing off due to Bobby saying he wants us to spend money and Loria saying not until the stadium is built. They seem to be ok with not trading anyone this year but would not commit to adding more salary next year

That makes no sense because they would only need to spend money for one year.

W/e I just hope they blow it up. Uggla, Ross, Cantu, should be on the market.

Yeah, I can't see them keeping payroll static or lowering it next year, considering the stadium is opening in 2011 and that joint statement with MLB on payroll last offseason. They may not be increasing payroll to the $70+ million level yet, but I'd be surprised if payroll was less than $50 mil next year.

Bobby probably wanted a substantial increase though.

Bobby probably took a good look at our bench and bullpen and ran away screaming. That and the fact that the FO told him that he had to do what they said and I'm sure he probably told them where to go.

Wonder if this means Loria and Bobby aren't friends no more. Or maybe this was done to save their 55 year friendship.
